As per theoretical suggestion, a creator triggered an explosion into an empty void that today we call “the universe”. This universe is suddenly filled with billions of particles and atoms that soon, after fusion and destruction, become a combination of functional and nonfunctional entities that miraculously follow the laws of physics.
The empty void is filling at a fast rate, but will never fill. Functional and nonfunctional entities continue to form and even combine to create novel entities that join them in their seemingly pointless journey.
Billions of years go by, chemical reactions accompanied by the formation of gravitational fields, and galaxies form, finally creating a “closed system” inside of the “open system” that is the universe.
The Milky Way, one of thousands (if not millions) of galaxies to have formed in the universe, has one entity that appears to be “special” — Earth. Earth has the atmospheric conditions to hold carbon-based life.
From single-celled organisms to the first deuterostomes to the first primates, “life” on Earth continues to evolve and change just as the rest of the universe did before it.
Primate evolution facilitated human evolution, a new form of life that can manipulate its environment like no other before it.
Human history is one of open discussion about their condition. It includes philosophy, art, and music. It includes war, love, and religion.
We’ve experienced the rise and fall of many great societies and empires: Egypt, Greece, Rome, Constantinople, the Catholic Church, the Chinese Dynasties, the Arab Empire, of course the damn Mongols, the English Empire, and now the American Empire…
You’re born in 2020. Now what?
You live a life governed by the laws of physics, society, and also free will. You experience pleasure and pain, and hopefully affection.
What do you decide to do? How do you decide what to do with your life? In low times you may even feel the meaninglessness of it all, after all we could very well be a randomly spawned society on a giant rock circulating around a giant fireball. But, it may just be easier to not look at the big picture and separate yourself from constant existential dilemma.
Should we spend our time on this rock looking beyond it, or just observing the surface further? Is it worth getting to know other people? How long should we decide to live?
Religion seems to provide us with an answer, but could it be possible that a creator’s message could be misconstrued by Man in effort to have more status? Should we follow the teachings of Jesus Christ?
If you believe that we evolved from primates which evolved from other organisms, there may be a dark truth about life itself, that all we have to do is just keep living and reproduce offspring. We may owe the universe nothing other than to follow our primal instincts. Everything else may just be extra: philosophy, art, music, religion, higher education, love, war, politics… all may just be a way to keep ourselves busy while we reach an age where we can produce offspring. In recent years these may have even taken over priority in place of having children, and may be the reason behind the increasing rates of depression.
Are children the answer to the world’s problems?
I’ll leave it at that.
Have a good day, everybody.
