In Appreciation of Dr. Jordan B. Peterson

This evening I’ll be meeting Dr. Jordan B. Peterson in Tampa, and I want to express my gratitude for his contributions to my own self-betterment. For those of you who are unaware of who Dr. Peterson is, a brief synopsis would be that he’s a renowned clinical psychologist tenured at the University of Toronto, whom has also published several successful lecture series on The Daily Wire and is the author of two of the most impactful books I’ve ever read in my life: 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos and Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life. In relation to people who have been followers of his since his days on Quora and his early Youtube days, I’m a newer follower only introducing myself to his content as early as late 2021. As most impactful things in life are, his introduction into my life was certainly timely as I was going through a point in my life that I would call some of the most unorganized and unmotivated days I have ever lived through.

Reading his most widely-known book 12 Rules for Life for the first time in June of 2022, that started a transformation in my life that — if the previous few months of my life were to be taken into consideration — could be considered a spectacular turnaround. From taking myself to therapy for the first time to “Treat yourself like someone you’re responsible for helping” (Rule 2), I quickly arranged my life into something I could say I’m proud of.

On a practical note, I’ve found myself creating the habit of journaling and also meditating, both being self-explorative practices. Generally or conceptually, I can say that I’ve been seeking God in my life and defining what is truly in my benefit as opposed to a true distraction.

To my readers, I would highly recommend listening to his lectures. I can say definitively that he has made a positive impact in my life and I believe that if given the opportunity he can open your heart to the grace of God as well.

To Dr. Peterson, if you are to ever read this, thank you from the bottom of my heart and I’m greatly looking forward to seeing you soon.

-brandon.
